Update 6:03 PM:
Two more minor league signings: [OF Yohan Silva] (who appears to be a CF stuck in AA) and [P Chi-Hung Cheng], a 24-year old from Taiwan who was a former top prospect with Toronto before tearing up his labrum.
Update, 5:20 PM:
[Rosenthal] now has us as one of five teams interested in David Eckstein. A lot of number crunchers won't like to hear that, but Eckstein wouldn't be a bad replacement if we did get rid of Jack (or Freddy). A heck of a lot better than Bixler/Cruz at least, and cheap, too.
Also regarding the newest Wilson suitor, the Twins, they appear to be interested in Miguel Tejada as well [via MLBTR]. Don't expect the Twins to give us a good deal for Jack, especially if there are other options. They do have a good handful of pitching prospects, though.
Update, 4:39 PM:
The Tigers officially signed Adam Everett [via Ken Rosenthal]. Consider the Jack to Detroit talks officially dead, once and for all. One year, $1M with incentives. Yeah, they DID get him pretty darn cheap...
Original Post, 3:32 PM:
Via [Dejan]: The Tigers are reportedly no longer interested in Jack Wilson. Apparently, they will sign Adam Everett instead. Mistake by Detroit, in my opinion (more on that later).
--
Also in that piece: the Twins are now looking at Jack, and Jack himself made an appearance in Vegas and appears to be having a great time.
-----------
Earlier today, the Bucs [signed minor league pitcher Brian Slocum]. He was 3-7 with a 4.85 ERA in AAA last season.
--
More rumors in that link: the Marlins still have interest (but are supposedly undervaluing) Ronny Paulino, and the Bucs remain a player in the Mark Loretta sweepstakes.
------------
The Trib's Rob Biertempfel is on the beat as well. He reports that [the Matt Clement talk can go away now]. His agent has not even spoken to the Pirates "in a long time", but has "made significant progress with other clubs." Rumors of him signing to the Bucs emerged yesterday and this morning.
------------
I will update this thread with any more Day 1 happenings.
