With the conclusion of college basketball's regular season upon us, the Panthers (after rolling past DePaul on Sunday) head to Madison Square Garden for Round 1 of this year's March Madness. Pitt plays Cincy (who they split the season series with this year) at 7:00 on Wednesday night. The winner will play Louisville on Thursday. Check out the entire bracket here.
Also in college hoops, lowly Penn State knocked off a ranked Indiana squad in overtime yesterday. The Pitt women upset #15 Notre Dame in the Big East Tournament and play #1 UConn there tonight. Robert Morris lost in the semi-finals. They'll be headed to the N.I.T.
The Pirates lost both games over the weekend. They won today though, getting 4 strong innings (1 run) from Ian Snell. Byung-Hyun Kim allowed a solo homer to Ryan Howard as his only blemish in one inning of work. McLouth, Wilson, and Bay had big days offensively. The Bucs are 4-8 this spring.
The Pens also won via a choke job by the Capitals.
