The Pirates (3-6) won again this afternoon, beating the Reds in a 13-8 shootout. Jack Wilson, Adam LaRoche, Freddy Sanchez, Ronny Paulino, and Neil Walker all delivered multiple hits in the slugfest. Nobody of note pitched well for the Bucs.
The first ever night game at McKechnie Field (Pirates spring home) was scheduled to be tonight, but it was rained out.
Bucco single-game tickets go on sale tomorrow at 10 AM. There are also new plans for the sports bar (open to all ticket-holders) that will replace the Outback in left field at PNC Park.
The Bucs battle the Twins tomorrow and the Tigers on Sunday.
Pitt plays DePaul on Sunday, at home at noon. A Pitt win should pretty much lock them into the tournament regardless of what happens at the Big East Tournament, but who knows. Losing to a poor team at home to finish the season is never a good idea.
I don't think I've ever mentioned these guys before, but hats off to Robert Morris. The Colonials won the NEC and are in the midst of the conference tournament, which they are favored to win and advance to the NCAA's. Good luck to them in the second round, vs. Mount St. Mary's.
Good college games on tomorrow include what is basically the Big East regular season title game in Louisville vs. G-Town. Duke-UNC is the prime-time game on at 9:00.
The Pens visit the Capitals on Sunday afternoon. Lots of interesting action taking place this weekend.
